Siena Cathedral

Siena Cathedral is an Italian Romanesque-Gothic style church made of white marble. The exterior of the cathedral is impressive, and the interior is no less so! Upon entering, you will not be disappointed: the cathedral is embellished with works by Donatello, Nicola Pisano, Michelangelo and Pinturicchio. The interior (like the exterior) is decorated in white and dark green marble and is reminiscent of the Florence Cathedral.
One of the most impressive works in the Cathedral is the floor, composed of 56 marble panels with carved and engraved scenes. The most precious mosaics are covered for most of the year to preserve them from wear and tear. If you are in Siena during the Palio or between late August and October, however, you will have the opportunity to see the floor fully unveiled.
