San Gimignano
Wonderful example of a medieval town only 40 km from the Hotel
Just 40km from Hotel ai Tufi is San Gimignano, a wonderful example of a medieval town, really not to be missed during your vacation in Tuscany.
It is a real jewel, surrounded by a breathtaking panorama, with hills and vineyards as far as the eye can see. Its charm can be sensed as soon as you catch a glimpse of its outline, with the unmistakable towers that still stand tall and proud.
Around the 13th century, the number of towers erected by the town's aristocracy had reached 72: families competed for supremacy, by building ever-taller towers as a symbol of their power.
Today, the attractions of San Gimignano are all enclosed in the small historic center, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
